Fun New Photo Op Spots at PGD!
Airport Partners with VCB to Offer Passengers New Photo Op Spots at Bailey Terminal
PUNTA GORDA, FL (February 7, 2022) – Life-size fishing and beach scenes are now available for selfies and group photos at the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) Bailey Terminal. The new photo op spots create a “sense of arrival” for PGD passengers visiting from one of Sun Country’s or Allegiant’s 50+ destinations.
PGD partnered with the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau (VCB) to create a display in the departures check-in area and a display just outside of baggage claim where friends and family can take a quick photo to kick off or memorialize their trip. “We hope the spots are seen as festive and fun, and we encourage everyone to share socially,” said the VCB’s Director of Marketing Maureen Morgenthien.
The beach scene just outside baggage claim incorporates a very popular activity, stand up paddleboarding, that can be enjoyed just about anywhere around Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf Islands. The headline “Landed in our Happy Place” is printed above the paddleboards adorned with PGD and VCB logos. The “Catch You Later” scene is a subtle reminder for visitors to plan their return and incorporates fishing, another top activity that can be enjoyed from local docks, piers and boats.
Photo takers are encouraged to post photos on social media with the hashtags #BestSideOutside and #FlyPGD.
“In between the two new photo op spots, there is a sunset scene painted by local artist Larry E. Palmer that was launched a few months ago,” said Kaley Miller, PGD’s Marketing & Communications manager. “We encourage visitors to take advantage of all three photo spots and walk through the corridor between ticketing and baggage claim to enjoy Art In Public Places, historical exhibits and the free Flybrary book exchange.”
Airport staff is planning to offer promotional prizes for picture takers that use the hashtags when posting and sharing, but details will be announced at a later date. The photo op spots are open now, so passengers traveling this week should capture their photos while at PGD and then watch Facebook.com/PuntaGordaAirport for upcoming information about the promotion.
