PUNTA GORDA, FL (June 27, 2018) – As an incentive to arrive at the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) early, passengers on morning flights departing July 1-7 may get a free large coffee or 20 oz bottled spring water. The first 100 passengers each morning that clear security screening by 5:30 a.m. will receive a coupon redeemable for a free coffee or water at “The Junction” or kiosk near gate 1 inside the departures waiting area.
PGD has experienced steady, incremental passenger growth – which has led to more traffic on the roads, as well as busier parking lots, check-in counters and security lines. During the first week of July Allegiant has five to six flights departing daily between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
“Our neighbors value PGD for its ease of use and convenience, and we want to keep it that way,” said PGD’s CEO James Parish. “We’re hoping this program will raise awareness and incentivize passengers to arrive early.”
Since PGD is an originating airport for Allegiant, it is especially important that the fleet departs on time to stay on track for later flights the planes are scheduled for. Starting in mid-December, flights will begin departing from PGD at 6 a.m. to allow some additional time to space out passenger traffic.
For early morning flights it’s recommended that passengers arrive at PGD two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow time for check-in, screening and boarding. To get an idea of how busy PGD will be when you arrive, check the list of flight departure times at www.FlyPGD.com.
The week-long incentive program is a pilot program that will be considered for future busy holiday weeks. PGD is partnering with the in-airport concessionaire Faber International for this promotion. Both the large coffee and 20 oz Zephyrhills bottled water retail for $2.79.
