New Maintenance & Operations Facility Ribbon Cutting!
Punta Gorda, FL (June 20, 2025) – The Charlotte County Airport Authority proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting of PGD’s new Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Facility — a significant milestone in enhancing airport operations and supporting the continued growth of our aviation community. The new M&O Facility is located at 7305 Golf Course Blvd. Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
This 14,400-square-foot facility unites several essential functions under one roof, including Credentialing, Airside Operations, Grounds and Fleet Maintenance, and space for receiving, training and meetings. By consolidating these departments into a centralized hub, we’re streamlining logistics, reducing delays, and increasing efficiency across our 2,000-acre airport.
Constructing the facility wasn’t without challenges — especially while coordinating around active commercial and general aviation operations. But through careful planning and teamwork, we delivered a space that is not only highly functional, but also built to last.
Designed with durability and resilience in mind, the building features materials capable of withstanding severe weather, along with energy-efficient systems that reflect PGD’s sustainability goals. Its central location was carefully chosen to minimize travel time for staff and equipment, while also allowing for future expansion — including plans for an Airport Operations Center and Emergency Operations Center.
Thanks to innovative design and thoughtful engineering, management reduced overall project costs by more than $1 million without sacrificing functionality. It’s a clear example of how smart planning and resourcefulness can deliver long-term value.
“We’re grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this project to life. Thursday’s ribbon cutting is more than just a celebration of a new building — it’s a reflection of PGD’s commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and serving our aviation community for generations to come,” said CEO James W. Parish.
