Punta Gorda Airport Announces New Chief Operating Officer

Gary E. Duncan is the new Director or Airport Operations/Projects

Gary E. Duncan is the new COO.

PUNTA GORDA, FL (January 6, 2022) – The Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) announces that Gary E. Duncan, C.M. has been promoted to Punta Gorda Airport’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Gary will continue to work under CEO James W. Parish, P.E. after his predecessor Ron Mallard, C.M., ACE retired earlier this month. Ron had served as PGD’s COO and Director of Aviation since 2013.  Gary joined PGD in late April 2021 as the Director of Airport Operations/Projects.

Gary has a strong history of airport leadership, most recently as the Deputy Executive Director, Aviation for the Lee County Port Authority where he managed operations at both Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Page Field (FMY). Gary also served as the General Aviation Manager of the Jacksonville Port Authority and gained extensive experience in planning and grants, operations and special projects.

“In addition to his extensive aviation experience, Gary Duncan is a highly effective communicator, consensus builder, listener and speaker,” said CEO Parish. “We are excited to welcome Gary to the team as he helps us leverage our success and implements new ways to improve efficiency, safety and customer service at PGD.”

Gary is a U.S. Navy Veteran who served at Cecil Field as an Aviation Electrician and earned his B.S. degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University. He is active in the American Association of Airport Executives, Airports Council International and Florida Airports Council.

The Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA), governed by five elected commissioners, owns and operates the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), located at 28000 Airport Road, five minutes off I-75, exits 161 and 164.
