Punta Gorda Airport’s management and operations teams are working to secure the airport property and make preparations for potential impacts from Tropical Storm Elsa. Punta Gorda Airport and its runways will remain open as long as conditions are safe.  However, if winds are sustained at ~50 MPH, aircraft operations and tower operations will cease, and we continue to follow recommendations from Charlotte County Emergency Management. That's why airport management, and Allegiant, recommend you arrive two hours early for morning flights if you need to check your luggage. FAA to Implement South-Central Florida Metroplex on April 22

Please direct related questions to the FAA.  The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on April 22 will implement the first phase of the South-Central Florida Metroplex, the agency’s plan to move flights more safely and efficiently across the southern half of the state. Metroplex procedures will allow flights that are more direct and have more efficient climb and descent profiles. The agency will publish 54 new procedures on April 22.
