75th Anniversary Contest

PGD will be sponsoring a 75th Anniversary Coin Treasure Hunt Contest with online entries and a “hunt” for a select number of commemorative coins. PGD staff will be hiding 75-Year Anniversary Coins at locations throughout Charlotte County October 1-10. We are seeking businesses welcoming foot traffic to participate by hiding a coin at their location.

Participating businesses will receive recognition via this website and PGD’s social media channels, as well and contest participant'(s) Facebook page(s). Participating businesses will be expected to tag and share on their Facebook page(s) as well.  These businesses will act as administrators of the contest and each manager/owner must agree to 75th Anniversary Contest Rules.

Consider Sponsorship Opportunities or email KMiller@flyPGD.com for more information.

75th Anniversary Celebration

PGD is planning a celebratory event at the airport November 16 from 5-7 p.m. Registered guests will enjoy static aircraft and photo displays, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, two complimentary cocktails, a short program and parting mementos. Businesses interested in co-hosting the event will receive sponsorship recognition before, during and after the event.

Individual tickets may be purchased through the Civil Air Patrol’s Charlotte Composite Squadron. Each $40 ticket purchased through the Civil Air Patrol will help youth cadets continue their skill development and aviation service. Contact 2nd Lt. Donna Jablonski at 609-744-4664 or djablonski1017@gmail.com to reserve tickets.

75th Anniversary Video

Watch this 4-minute video featuring Charlotte County Airport Authority Commissioners, PGD staff, airport partners and tenants as they wish Punta Gorda Airport best wishes for its 75th anniversary.  This video also features a summary of the airport’s history starting with the activation of the Punta Gorda Army Airfield in 1943 –  key to training pilots for oversees duty in World War II.

This economic engine is a key component of our community, tourism development, real estate, public service and business activities. Each day thousands of passengers pass through Punta Gorda Airport, totaling nearly 1.3 million in 2017. Experience how PGD has become a great place to operate, to do business, to work and to grow.
