Airspace Incursion Safety Notice

The purpose of this notice is to highlight potential dangers to aircraft around the Punta Gorda Airport, and to ask for community assistance in enforcement of state and federal statutes. View the flyer

Please avoid setting off fireworks, or releasing sky lanterns or balloons, within a five-mile radius of PGD. Even floating items that are released farther away may be carried into PGD’s airspace by persistent winds.

FIREWORKS:
Fireworks, including sky lanterns, are prohibited under Florida Statute 791.

BALLOONS:
The release of 10 balloons or more is prohibited under Florida Statute 379.233. Violators could face up to $250.00 in fines.

DRONES:
Drone usage falls under Part 107 of FAA regulations. Drones must be:
• Registered with the FAA.
• Flown during daylight (30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after dusk).
• Stay below 400 ft above the ground and less than 100 MPH (87 Knots).
• Flown outside of airport airspaces unless waived by its air traffic control tower.
